Job Summary:
Conducts diagnostic imaging in Nuclear Medicine sectors as instructed by healthcare providers and radiologists, ensuring prompt and quality service to patients. Adheres to departmental protocols for handling radioactive substances to uphold a safe, efficient, and cost-effective environment. Engages with patients to welcome, clarify, and address inquiries and concerns throughout and after the procedure.
Key Position Details:
  • Casual position at St. Francis Regional Medical Center
  • Department hours are Monday - Friday, lab closes at 5pm
  • Weekend call rotation
Job Description:

Principal Responsibilities
  • Execute procedures in accordance with physician directives and departmental standards
    • Confirms patient identity using two identifiers.
    • Accurately documents all necessary aspects of the procedure.
    • Observes and communicates with patients, addressing their needs.
    • Maintains a safe environment for patients in the procedure area.
    • Safely handles and administers radioactive materials in compliance with Nuclear Medicine department policies and relevant health regulations.
  • Conduct procedures with a high level of precision
    • Demonstrates comprehensive knowledge of all diagnostic equipment.
    • Maintains professional knowledge and competence.
    • Collects all pertinent information to aid in image interpretation.
    • Ensures all imaging is properly transferred to the imaging storage and retrieval system.
  • Provides accurate clerical support
    • Utilizes Excellian (electronic medical record).
    • Understands the Enterprise Medical Imaging/Picture Archiving Communication System.
    • Ensures all documentation is complete following the procedure.
  • Communicates effectively with supervisors and team members
    • Reports issues, challenges, or suggestions.
    • Offers assistance, ideas, and information to support colleagues.
    • Performs other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements
  • Graduation from an accredited School of Nuclear Medicine Technology or
  • Graduation from an accredited School of Radiologic Technology
  • Less than 2 years of experience in Nuclear Medicine technology or
  • Recent graduate of an accredited Nuclear Medicine Technology program
  • BLS Tier 1 - Basic Life Support - Multisource certification required upon hire
  • Registered Technologist - Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB) certification required upon hire or
  • Registered Technologist - NMTCB Registry eligible upon hire and
  • Must obtain NMTCB registration within 1 year of hire
