Key Responsibilities:

Engages in a variety of semi-skilled masonry tasks to construct, maintain, and repair infrastructure such as roads, sidewalks, curbs, footings, walls, catch basins, ramps, and storm drains. This includes interpreting blueprints, pouring concrete, building and laying forms, laying bricks, sealing grout, and concrete.
Assesses the quantity of materials required for projects and gathers necessary equipment, tools, parts, and supplies; monitors inventory levels and initiates requests for new or replacement materials as needed.
Ensures compliance with relevant laws, codes, regulations, and standards; inspects roadways, sidewalks, and drainage systems; identifies potential issues, unsafe conditions, and necessary repairs; takes appropriate actions to rectify deviations or violations.
Conducts inspections and tests on machinery, equipment, and components for proper functionality; makes adjustments, repairs, or replacements as needed; reports any problematic situations.
Performs general cleaning and maintenance tasks to keep vehicles, equipment, and tools in operational condition; monitors equipment operations to ensure efficiency and safety; reports any faulty equipment.
Adheres to safety protocols, utilizes safety equipment, and monitors the work environment to ensure the safety of employees and the public; places safety cones, markers, or signs to alert individuals of work areas and potential hazards.
Receives various blueprints, work orders, policies, procedures, manuals, reference materials, or other documentation; reviews, completes, processes, forwards, or retains as appropriate.
Communicates with supervisors, other departments, the public, outside agencies, and other individuals as necessary to coordinate work activities, review project status, exchange information, or resolve issues.
Operates or utilizes various equipment, tools, and supplies to complete work assignments; operates and maintains drills, saws, mixers, blowers, masonry tools, dump trucks, and other equipment.
Minimum Qualifications:
A high school diploma or GED is required; three years of experience in masonry; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this position.
Specific License or Certification Required: Must possess and maintain a valid Georgia Driver's License; and must possess and maintain certification as a Mason Journeyman.
