Are you an experienced Histology Specialist seeking a fulfilling career opportunity in the Fishkill area? K.A. Recruiting is currently looking for a committed professional to become a vital part of our laboratory team on a permanent basis. In this role, you will be essential to our laboratory operations, executing a variety of histology tasks with accuracy and effectiveness.
Compensation: Based on experience ($30 - $48 / hour)
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct specimen embedding and microtomy in accordance with established protocols.
- Engage actively in quality control and assurance procedures to guarantee precise results.
- Systematically file blocks and slides, ensuring organized documentation and facilitating the distribution of slides.
- Assist with inventory management and ordering of supplies as necessary.
- Proficiently utilize Laboratory Information Systems (LIS), Powerpath, and Omni-Trax for data management.
- Effectively operate the Cryostat for the preparation of frozen sections.
- Maintain, troubleshoot, and operate various histology equipment, including tissue processors and staining machines.
- Perform slide cover slipping and labeling with meticulous attention to detail.
- Execute H/E and special staining techniques and prepare necessary solutions.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Licensure as a Certified Clinical Laboratory Histotechnician, Histotechnologist, Technician, or Technologist by the New York State Department of Health (NYSDOH).
- An Associate's Degree in a relevant field as specified by New York State clinical laboratory licensing requirements.
- A high school diploma may be considered if the individual possesses the required experience as defined by New York State and has obtained their NYS license through the grandparenting pathway.
- 6 months to 1 year of experience in a surgical pathology laboratory setting.
- Familiarity with computer systems and proficiency in relevant software applications.
- Strong communication skills to effectively collaborate with team members and stakeholders.
