Position Overview: The Clinical Dietician is accountable for evaluating and strategizing the nutritional treatment of patients, adhering to relevant federal, state, and local standards, guidelines, and regulations. This role collaborates closely with the Nutritional Services Director to guarantee that high-quality food service and nutritional support are delivered to patients.
Educational Requirements:
Essential Qualifications: A Bachelor's degree in Dietetics, Nutrition, or a related discipline is required, with a Master's degree being highly desirable.
Experience Requirements: Prior experience in acute clinical nutrition, nutritional support, and disease-specific dietary management is preferred.
Skill Set: Must possess strong attention to detail, accuracy, and clarity in communication. Knowledge of safe food preparation and handling practices is essential. Proficiency in both oral and written communication is required. Familiarity with medical nutrition therapy in an acute care environment is necessary. Understanding of growth and development principles across the lifespan, with the ability to provide appropriate care for various patient demographics, is crucial. Experience with electronic health records is advantageous.
Licensure and Certification: Must be a Registered Dietitian with the Commission on Dietetic Registration of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. Membership in the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics is strongly preferred. Compliance with state-mandated licensure or certification, including ServSafe Food Safety Certification, is preferred.
Reporting Structure: This position reports directly to the Chief Nursing Executive.
Supervisory Responsibilities: There are no direct reports associated with this position.
