Water Grill, a renowned seafood restaurant in Southern California, is seeking a skilled Wine Steward to join our team. With over 25 years of experience in providing exceptional dining experiences, we have earned the title of 'the best seafood in Southern California' from the Zagat Guide.

We offer an exciting opportunity for wine enthusiasts to grow their skills and knowledge while working in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.

Compensation Package:

We offer a competitive hourly rate plus commission ($16 - $18 per hour, plus commission on bottles of wine), along with premium benefits, a supportive culinary family, growth opportunities, and more.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Drive Sales: Utilize suggestive selling techniques to enhance the Guest's wine experience and drive sales.
  • Wine Service: Visit tables, take wine orders, confirm during order-taking, and serve wine expertly using proper pouring and decanting techniques.
  • Inventory Management: Manage the evening's inventory of wine, restock as needed, and maintain the physical condition of all wine storage areas.
  • Guest Experience: Ensure that Guests are satisfied with our product and service, and address any concerns promptly.
  • Ongoing Education: Actively participate in crew wine education and maintain a high level of enthusiasm for the wine program.

Requirements:

  • Minimum age of 21
  • High school graduate or some college
  • Level 1 Court of Masters, WSET level 2, or equivalent
  • Current CA Food Handler's Card
  • Ability to communicate verbal and written English with Guests, management, and co-workers
  • Ability to add Guest notes to Open Table database
