Job Overview

POSITION SUMMARY

The Maintenance Technician plays a crucial role in enhancing production efficiency, minimizing downtime, and ensuring optimal performance by effectively fabricating, installing, repairing, and maintaining production machinery and equipment, as well as overseeing the upkeep of the facilities and grounds.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Perform high-quality work while adhering to established safety and maintenance protocols.
  • Maintain comprehensive records for all necessary logs and reports.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot equipment irregularities and malfunctions prior to initiating repairs.
  • Complete tasks as assigned by the Manufacturing Manager or other management personnel, including those not explicitly listed in this description.
  • Exhibit flexibility and availability to work various shifts as needed.
  • Demonstrate readiness to work voluntary or mandatory overtime, including short-notice requests.
  • Assemble, install, align, maintain, and repair all production machinery as required.
  • Utilize hand tools such as hammers, levels, pliers, screwdrivers, wrenches, and drills to adjust functional components of devices and equipment.
  • Operate lift trucks and other powered equipment for material handling.
  • Conduct routine testing of plant safety equipment, including exit signs, fire extinguishers, and sprinkler systems.
  • Keep all work areas, maintenance shop, equipment, machines, and tools in a clean and organized state.
  • Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) as required and comply with all safety regulations.
  • Ensure compliance with maintenance department standards at all times.
  • Promote adherence to company policies among all manufacturing and maintenance personnel.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • High School diploma or General Education Degree (GED) along with two years of maintenance-related experience in a manufacturing or warehousing setting.
  • Basic knowledge or experience in electrical systems is advantageous.

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS

  • Ability to read and interpret safety guidelines and operational manuals.
  • Proficiency in basic arithmetic operations including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals.
  • Capability to apply common sense in executing detailed written and/or verbal instructions.
  • Possess strong interpersonal skills that foster positive interactions among supervisors, peers, and different departments.
  • Effective communication skills to relay necessary information regarding plant equipment status and performance to management.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage subordinate discipline fairly and consistently when necessary.
  • Strong technical expertise and leadership skills, with a proven ability to positively influence manufacturing and maintenance staff, fostering a constructive work environment.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively.
  • Capacity to handle stress in a fast-paced environment.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Must be capable of standing or walking for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift up to 60 lbs.
  • Must be able to frequently bend and climb.
  • Ability to work in confined spaces.
