Job Summary

The Title Examiner is responsible for thorough examination and preparation of title commitments and title policies in a hybrid role requiring on-site work two days a week. This position can be based out of our Chicago or Schaumburg office.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Examine search packages to ensure accuracy and completeness
  • Prepare title commitments and policies using the search package or examining checklist provided by the attorney-agent
  • Maintain direct communication with Underwriter regarding examining decisions
  • Collaborate with attorneys to address title examining questions
  • Work with closing officers to resolve examining and survey issues
  • Generate invoices for each transaction
  • Manage and maintain accurate files
  • Make final decisions on examining issues arising prior to or at closing
  • Determine which items will be insured over on final title policies

Requirements:

  • Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Excellent mathematical skills
  • Able to manage multiple tasks and prioritize deadlines
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to handle confidential information and data securely
  • Familiarity with office equipment, such as faxes, printers, and telephones

Education and Experience:

  • 2-5 years of previous title examining experience
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent business background
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Able to work independently and research problems/questions as needed
  • Paralegal certificate is a plus

Compensation and Benefits:

  • Estimated salary: $65,000 - $85,000 per year
