Lead Pharmacy Technician

Position Summary: Responsible for the development, enhancement, and oversight of clinical pharmacy services. Ensure compliance with standards established by regulatory bodies while leading high-quality clinical services aimed at achieving optimal patient outcomes. Manage formulary and budgetary processes while providing essential drug information and educational support to pharmacy and patient care staff. Supervise pharmacy technician personnel effectively.
Key Responsibilities: The following duties are essential. Additional responsibilities may be assigned as needed.
- Design and execute procedures within the hospital pharmacy in alignment with institutional policies and legal regulations.
- Collaborate with IT professionals to create pharmacy information management systems, patient charge systems, and inventory management solutions.
- Conduct various inventory control tasks and clerical duties to support the pharmacy's purchasing operations.
- Maintain accurate records for ordering, receiving, and storing pharmacy inventory.
- Ensure optimal inventory levels and verify accurate pricing from suppliers.
- Oversee the management of the department's pharmaceutical budget.
- Work closely with pharmacists to ensure the smooth execution of operational functions.
- Analyze data to identify prescribing patterns and potential overuse of medications.
- Prepare departmental budget and reports required by hospital leadership.
- Participate in staff meetings to inform and advise medical staff on drug applications and properties.
- Monitor pharmacy staff performance and develop quality assurance protocols to uphold safe, legal, and ethical practices.
- Supervise the preparation and distribution of investigational drugs.
Qualifications:
Education and Experience: An Associate's degree (A.A.) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical institution; or six months to one year of relevant experience and/or training; or a combination of education and experience.
A minimum of three to five years of experience in a hospital pharmacy setting is preferred.
State pharmacy registration is mandatory.
Provide daily leadership and guidance to the entire pharmacy staff.
Engage in performance evaluations for clinical service staff.
Licenses and Certifications:
CRPT licensure is required.
Supervisory Duties:
Directly oversee pharmacy technician staff within the department. Execute supervisory responsibilities in accordance with organizational policies and relevant laws. Duties include interviewing, hiring, and training personnel; planning, assigning, and directing work; evaluating performance; rewarding and disciplining staff; addressing concerns and resolving issues.
