About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Cardiac Rhythm Technician to join our team at UVA Health Northern VA & Culpeper. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will be responsible for performing technical procedures and functions for electro diagnostics, observing cardiac monitors, and identifying, calculating, interpreting, and communicating information regarding cardiac rhythms.

Key Responsibilities
  • Performs technical procedures and functions for electro diagnostics
  • Observes cardiac monitors and identifies, calculates, interprets, and communicates information regarding cardiac rhythms
  • Applies and discontinues telemetry services as instructed
  • Enters, edits, and other paperwork as applicable to the department
  • Participates in the teaching and counseling of patients and their support system
  • Possesses the ability to prioritize job duties according to patients' needs and changing acuity levels
  • Administers and evaluates medication therapies, performs patient transfers, and transports patients via wheelchair, hospital bed, or stretcher to other departments
  • Communicates individualized plan of care and patient's progress toward goals to all members of the care team, including the patient and his/her chosen support system
  • Documents appropriate information within a timely manner
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or GED Required
  • Medical terminology and CPR-basic
  • Ability to operate electronic and computer-based equipment
  • Ability to recognize technical inferior EKG and take corrective action as appropriate
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills
  • Demonstrate thorough knowledge of cardiac monitor interpretation, skills, and abilities
  • Must practice appropriate communication skills and sensitivity to patient's needs
  • Must demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age, principles of growth and development over the life span and to accommodate cultural diversity among the patients being served
  • Must be able to assess and interpret data about the patient's status, to identify each patient's population specific or behavioral needs and provide the care as needed
  • Must be able to effectively teach others on cardiac rhythms
  • Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel)
Working Conditions

The job requires constant sitting, standing, walking, and bending/stooping. Frequent repetitive body movements. Proficient communicative, auditory, and visual skills. Attention to detail and ability to write legibly. Ability to lift/push/pull up to 100 lbs. occasionally. For any weight over 35 lbs. use Safe Handling Equipment.
