Job Summary

The primary responsibilities for this position include:

  • Passing surgical instruments in the operating room
  • Maintaining a strict sterile field
  • Assisting and performing surgical case counts
  • Obtaining necessary supplies and instruments for cases
  • Setting up and maintaining a sterile field
  • Passing instruments to surgeons
  • Monitoring for breaks in sterile technique
  • Performing counts in accordance with policy
Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Scrubbing a variety of surgical cases
  • Maintaining a neat and orderly sterile field
  • Anticipating the needs of surgeons
  • Identifying and correcting breaks in sterile technique
Requirements

The ideal candidate will have:

  • A graduate degree in surgical technology or a related field
  • One year of directly related operating room experience as a surgical technician
Work Environment

The work environment for this position will include:

  • Exposure to communicable diseases
  • Hazards of radiation
  • Injury from intractable patients or sharp instruments
