We are seeking a skilled Ultrasound Technologist to join our team at Good Samaritan Hospital. As an Ultrasound Technologist, you will play a critical role in providing high-quality patient care by performing a variety of technical procedures in the application of non-ionizing, high frequency ultrasonic waves to generate an image for assessment and diagnosis.
Responsibilities- Manage images and ultrasound examinations in automated systems.
- Prepare and maintain records and files of procedures.
- Inspect and ensure equipment is functioning properly on a continual basis.
- Review patient's medical history and physician's instructions.
- Prepare equipment for procedure, and select appropriate equipment settings.
- Explain procedure to patient and record any medical history that may be relevant to the condition being viewed.
- Direct patient to move into positions that will provide the best view.
- Spread ultrasound gel on the surface of the patient's body covering the internal area being imaged.
- Perform the ultrasound ensuring the transducer (probe) is capturing images of every angle and section that must be assessed.
- Evaluate images for their quality, take measurements, calculate values, and analyze results in preliminary reports for physicians.
- Maintain ultrasound equipment, probes, and images in a sanitary manner, and sterilize the room in which the procedure takes place.
- View the screen during the scan looking for visual cues that contrast healthy areas with unhealthy ones.
- Present images and preliminary findings to physicians.
- Comply with safety, infection control, and quality improvement policies and procedures.
- Properly identify patients using two hospital-wide patient safety identifiers.
- Charge procedures and supplies used to patient record.
- Maintain accurate patient records for all procedures performed, maintain patient confidentiality, and adhere to all HIPAA standards.
- Perform related duties as assigned.
- Minimum of one year experience in clinical diagnostic ultrasound, or satisfactory completion of formal training at an approved diagnostic school for ultrasound is required.
- Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) certified by the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) preferred.
