Optimization Specialist

Quad is seeking a highly skilled Optimization Specialist to join our Data Science team in Sussex, WI. As a key member of our team, you will work closely with business partners and our I.T department to solve complex analytical opportunities by developing solutions that answer "what should we do" given a project's proposed requirements and available datasets.
Key Responsibilities- Partner with project stakeholders, cross-functional IT teams, and your Data Science team to determine project scope, requirements, functional and technical design, and expected results.
- Work closely with the Data Science Team to plan and execute deliverables according to the principles of Agile Software Development.
- Design and implement models and algorithms using prescriptive disciplines of data science and applied mathematics to support strategic business decisions and automated integration with business processes/system.
- Continuously monitor and improve existing models as business direction and corresponding data sets evolve.
- Write automated data collection routines: processing, transforming, and storing data in support of machine learning projects.
- Develop and automate continuous training models and required reporting.
- Security considerations are included within the scope of all software solution design.
- Analyze large data sets to determine patterns and support decision making within project design to produce actionable scope.
- Effectively present complex data concepts and recommended insights to non-technical stakeholders.
- Collaborate with business areas and IT Development Teams to integrate data science into business processes and viable solutions.
- Provide timely and accurate production support responsibilities within defined SLAs to business partners.
- Proactively engage with fellow team members, the I.T. Department, and Business Stakeholders to monitor and strengthen the data science platform.
- Bachelor's degree in Data Science, Math, Statistics, or related field with an optimization concentration.
- 3-5 years of experience in Data Science application development and application of principles to successful business solutions.
- Experience with neural network libraries such as Jax, PyTorch, etc.
- Working knowledge of big data technologies (Databricks, Spark).
- Experience with software tools such as: Python, Pandas, NumPy.
- Demonstrated understanding and application of linear and logistic regression, probability theory, or SVM, and related properties of distributions and statistical tests.
- Demonstrated understanding and application of optimization algorithms across Gradient-Based, Second-Order, and Evolutionary & Direct Search.
- Strong problem-solving and object-oriented development skills.
- Excellent communication and technical writing skills.
- Desire and ambition to jointly build and strengthen data science solutions as part of a collaborative and respectful team environment.
- Unrestricted Work Authorization in the US.
