Job Summary

We are seeking a highly qualified Mathematics Educator to join our team at the Alabama Department of Education. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching mathematics courses to students in grades 6-12.

Responsibilities
  • Teaching and Curriculum Development: Develop and implement engaging lesson plans to promote student learning and understanding of mathematical concepts.
  • Classroom Management: Create a positive and inclusive learning environment that fosters academic excellence and social growth.
  • Assessment and Evaluation: Design and administer assessments to measure student progress and understanding of mathematical concepts.
  • Professional Development: Stay current with best practices in mathematics education and participate in professional development opportunities to enhance teaching skills.
Requirements
  • Certification: Hold a valid Alabama professional educator certificate or alternate certificate in middle level math or science OR secondary math, science or computer science.
  • Experience: Have a minimum of 2 years of teaching experience in mathematics education.
  • Credentials: Currently hold or plan to obtain an Advanced Credential from either the National Institute for STEM Education or National Board for Professional Teaching Standards (NBPTS) Certification in math or science.
Preferred Qualifications
  • National Board Certification: Hold a National Board Certification in mathematics or science.
  • STEM Education Credential: Hold a STEM Education credential from the National Institute for STEM Education.
Compensation

Salary is based on degree and experience, and will be determined based on the DCS TEAMS Certified Salary Schedule.
