Job Overview

A Field Service Technician is tasked with diagnosing, adjusting, repairing, overhauling, and conducting maintenance on construction, forestry, and utility machinery within the workshop environment. This role also encompasses customer interaction, including addressing service inquiries, generating detailed service reports for warranty and billing purposes, and coordinating with the parts department to ensure timely repairs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform all tasks in a safe and compliant manner.
  • Adhere to OSHA and other relevant safety regulations to protect all personnel.
  • Operate and assess machinery to identify defects and ensure optimal performance.
  • Execute repairs and overhauls based on diagnostic evaluations.
  • Conduct routine maintenance inspections.
  • Assist in demonstrating machinery to clients as necessary.
  • Inspect components for damage or excessive wear.
  • Troubleshoot hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical systems to identify issues and determine effective repair methods.
  • Utilize diagnostic tools such as hydraulic gauges, flow meters, and electrical test meters.
  • Interpret service manuals, including hydraulic and electrical schematics.
  • Reference parts catalogs and utilize computer systems for parts lookup.
  • Employ computer systems to diagnose equipment integrated with software.
  • Communicate effectively with clients to assist in problem resolution, both over the phone and in person.
  • Document work orders and manage parts ordering efficiently.
  • Handle heavy equipment as required by job duties.
  • Be prepared for exposure to various weather conditions during service tasks.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of tools, equipment, and workspaces.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Demonstrated experience as a Service Technician.
  • Strong customer service capabilities.
  • Effective problem-solving and listening skills.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and resolve machinery issues with patience.
  • Familiarity with computer applications and industry-specific software.
Compensation

Hourly wage, including overtime, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
