POSITION SUMMARY:

The Nurse Practitioner is a licensed independent healthcare provider responsible for overseeing health issues and coordinating patient care for individuals served by Bucksport Family Medicine, adhering to State and Federal regulations and nursing standards. The clinical management and treatment of patients are conducted in collaboration with a multidisciplinary healthcare team.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  1. Independently performs comprehensive age-appropriate assessments for patients with complex acute, critical, and chronic conditions.
  2. Develops suitable healthcare plans that may involve administering medications, therapies, and treatments, evaluating test results, and assessing the effectiveness of the treatment plan.
  3. Orders and interprets diagnostic and therapeutic tests based on the specific needs of patients.
  4. Prescribes both pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic treatment options.
  5. Provides necessary medical evaluations and interventions for patients.
  6. Monitors the effectiveness of provided interventions.
  7. Facilitates patient transitions within and between healthcare settings, including admissions, transfers, and discharges.
  8. Collaborates with various healthcare professionals by making appropriate referrals.
  9. Documents all care provided in the patients' electronic health records.
  10. Ensures the efficient and timely delivery of healthcare services.
NON-ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  1. Performs additional duties and tasks as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION NEEDED FOR POSITION:

Experience and Skill Requirements: The following experience and skills are essential:
  • A minimum of five years of clinical experience or clinical perioperative experience; at least two years in the Nurse Practitioner role is strongly preferred.
  • Proficiency in using Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office software.
  • Ability to prioritize and coordinate work activities effectively.
  • Detail-oriented approach.
  • Strong management and leadership capabilities.
  • Empathy towards patients and their families.
  • Ability to manage stress effectively.
Education Requirements: The following educational qualifications are essential:
  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
  • Graduate of an accredited nurse practitioner program.
  • Current Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) Licensure in the state of Maine.
  • Current nurse practitioner certification in the relevant specialty area.
  • Current CNOR/CRNFA certification (if applicable).
  • Current provider certifications in BLS, ACLS, and PALS as required by the department and facility.
