Job Title: Principal / Senior Principal Process Engineer

Northrop Grumman is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Process Engineer to join our Advanced Technology Lab (ATL) team in Maryland. As a key member of our multidisciplinary foundry team, you will be responsible for all aspects of semiconductor technology, including design, mask making, wafer fabrication, test, and assembly.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and optimize processes for semiconductor manufacturing, including Plasma Etch, PVD, CVD, WETs, CMP, and Photolithography.
  • Interface with other unit process engineers and product integration engineers to develop processes for emerging technologies.
  • Support statistical process control (SPC) and continuous improvement efforts.
  • Establish standard operating procedures and engage the operations team to ensure compliance.
  • Procure and start-up new process equipment and processes.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree or higher in Materials Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, or closely related discipline.
  • 5+ years of technical experience in semiconductor fabrication, or Master's Degree with 3+ years of experience; PhD with 0+ years of experience.
  • Strong understanding of semiconductor technology, metrology processes, and equipment engineering.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with ability to work with diverse groups of people.
  • US citizenship required; must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret Clearance.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Process development experience in Plasma Etch, PVD, CVD, WETs, CMP, or Photolithography.
  • Experience in superconductor microelectronics highly desired.
  • Lean manufacturing practices and structured problem-solving methodology experience.
  • User of various software packages commonly found in Semiconductor Wafer Fabs.
