Nutrition Specialist – Regional Role

The Nutrition Specialist is responsible for overseeing dietary programs for residents across various long-term care facilities.

The primary duty of the Nutrition Specialist involves conducting nutritional assessments for all residents and integrating dietary interventions into care plans to help maintain or restore residents' desired nutritional health.



Key Responsibilities:

- Plan, organize, develop, and direct the nutritional care of residents in accordance with current federal, state, and local standards, guidelines, and regulations governing the facility.

- Conduct Medical Nutrition Therapy Assessments for residents.

- Review facility menus to ensure a balanced diet and nutritional needs are met for each resident.

- Collaborate with the Dietary Manager and kitchen staff to create core meal plans that accommodate special requests or critical dietary needs.

- Monitor the effectiveness of resident meal plans and make necessary adjustments to support individualized needs.

- In partnership with the Dietary Manager, ensure the cleanliness and safety of dining services.

- Conduct on-site reviews at least twice a month for each assigned facility.

- Participate in the facility's Quality Improvement/Quality Assurance initiatives.

- Attend mandatory training sessions and engage in professional development programs to enhance skills.

- Maintain regular attendance as scheduled.

- Perform any other tasks or duties as assigned.


Qualifications:
- A Bachelor's Degree in Dietetics from an accredited institution is required.

- Must hold a valid license in Nutrition/Dietetics as mandated by the applicable state.

- Registration with the Commission on Dietetic Registration of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics is preferred.

- Candidates must have a reliable email address and phone number for employer communication.

- Strong problem-solving skills are essential, including the ability to identify and resolve issues promptly.

- Excellent interpersonal skills are required.

- Must be able to communicate effectively, both in writing and verbally, with staff and residents as necessary.

- Ability to read and interpret information, present numerical data effectively, and gather and analyze information skillfully.

- Must be able to prioritize and plan work activities to use time efficiently.

- Organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to monitor work quality are crucial.

- Dependability, the ability to follow instructions, and responsiveness to management feedback are essential.
