This role operates within the Outpatient Department, assisting patients and medical personnel in an ambulatory care environment, ensuring the clinic's smooth operation.
Responsibilities include maintaining skill sets, completing annual competencies, certifications, and participating in educational programs within the clinic, hospital, and community as required; fulfilling all mandatory training; attending staff meetings; and adhering to infection control policies and procedures.
It is essential to maintain a clean and safe work environment, ensuring adequate supplies and proper upkeep of the unit and equipment, reporting any defective or missing items and safety concerns; unresolved issues with patients, coworkers, or visitors should be referred to the department or administrative manager for resolution; employee concerns must be addressed in accordance with Human Resources policies.
This position may require early morning hours and weekend shifts.Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:
Provide clinical services by collaborating with providers, clinic staff, and management to ensure high-quality care and services, efficient resource utilization, and compliance with SEARHC standards.
Offer leadership and guidance to clinic staff, ensuring the efficient operation of all clinic aspects, including front desk and patient care services.
Manage medication inventory and supplies not included in the Warehouse PAR system.
Conduct necessary quality control checks for Point of Care tests.
Accurately document all care and services provided in the clinic, completing nursing duties with professionalism and timeliness.
Oversee the opening and closing procedures of the clinics.
Assist providers and other staff as necessary, anticipating their needs to guarantee efficient and quality patient care.
Communicate effectively with other departments to serve as a valuable resource for patients, providers, and fellow clinic staff.
Education, Certifications, and Licenses Required:Current full, unrestricted Registered Nursing license in Alaska or another U.S. state is mandatory.
Direct hires must have applied for an Alaska nursing license prior to the start date. Agency staff must possess an active Alaska license.
Basic Life Support certification is required.
A high school diploma or equivalent is necessary.
Experience Required:
Preferred: 1 year of acute care experience and 6 months of addiction services experience.
Knowledge of:
Nursing processes and their application in the workplace.
Customer service principles and safety and infection control standards.
Skills:
Completing assessments, anticipating needs, and specimen collection.
Utilizing equipment such as computers and medical devices.
Effective oral and written communication skills.
Ability to:
Multi-task and work independently in a fast-paced environment.
Collaborate as a team player.
Provide instruction when appropriate.
Problem-solve and apply critical thinking to foster positive working relationships with other staff and departments.
