Position Overview

This role is an on-call, casual position requiring the Physician to respond to disasters in support of governmental responses. Deployments may last from 14 to 120 days in various locations across the United States and its territories. Compensation varies based on the disaster and location. The Physician will apply their expertise to manage and treat injuries and illnesses, ensuring appropriate care and disease management, while coordinating necessary tests and referrals to specialists. Responsibilities include managing medical referrals, admissions, and patient stabilization, as well as coordinating evacuations to higher levels of care when necessary. We seek candidates who are committed to proactive workplace safety and demonstrate professionalism in patient interactions.

Key Qualifications:
  • Unrestricted medical license from any US State, District of Columbia, or US Territory.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification.
  • Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS) certification.
  • DEA License.
  • US Citizenship.
  • National Registry Emergency Technician certification.
  • Proximity to a major airport.
  • Ability to respond to site within 72 hours.
  • Successful completion of a Child Neglect and Abuse Check and other background checks.
  • Minimum of five years of experience as a Physician, preferably in remote or austere settings.
  • Board Certified in Emergency Medicine.
  • Strong commitment to workplace safety and professionalism in patient interactions.
  • Proficient in English, both oral and written.
  • Adaptable to a culturally diverse environment.
Responsibilities:
  • Deliver urgent and emergency care in accordance with standard emergency medicine practices in the United States.
  • Manage medical referrals and transfers, ensuring appropriate patient disposition.
  • Stabilize patients and coordinate with surgical teams and Chief Medical Officers for patient admissions and evacuations.
  • Participate in medical meetings and committees as required.
  • Engage in MASCAL drills and real events.
  • Provide insights for enhancing medical activities within the program.
  • Fulfill telephonic on-call duties as needed, supporting emergency department activities.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality and uphold professional standards.
  • Promote patient safety and well-being in all care activities.
  • Support the organization's mission and objectives.
  • Respect patient rights and foster positive relationships with patients and peers.
  • Contribute to policy and procedure reviews.
  • Adhere to infection control protocols.
Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to sit and stand for extended periods.
  • Assist in lifting and moving patients as necessary.
  • Perform CPR and other emergency procedures.
  • Capable of bending, stooping, and lifting up to 35 lbs.
  • Adaptable to various environmental conditions during deployments.
