As a Plant Operations Technician at Targa Resources, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safe and efficient operation of our natural gas plant and pipeline equipment. This position requires a strong understanding of mechanical equipment, process optimization, and safety protocols.
Key Responsibilities- Assist with the operation of natural gas plant and pipeline equipment, including treating plants, reciprocating natural gas compressors, dehydrators, fluid separation equipment, valves, and gas measurement equipment.
- Monitor plant and pipeline operations, responding promptly to emergency or upset conditions.
- Implement safe work practices and participate in a proactive safety culture, ensuring the safety of employees, the public, and the environment.
- Assist with monitoring of gas gathering systems through SCADA and notify plant supervisors of situations that could affect gas deliveries.
- Read, monitor, and record various operating conditions, such as pressures, temperatures, hours of operation, fuel consumed, and water levels.
- Minimum High School Diploma or Equivalent
- Valid driver's license with a safe driving record
- Strong interpersonal communication skills
- Ability to work 12-hour rotating shifts, including weekends and holidays
- Computer skills, including Microsoft Office software
- Ability to work overtime and respond to call-outs as needed
- 2-year vocational training in the oil and gas industry
- 2 years of experience in the oil and gas industry, specifically in midstream gas plant operations
- Knowledge of gas and liquid measurement
- Ability to lift, push, and pull at least 50 pounds
- Ability to work in changing climate conditions
- Ability to work in close quarters, including kneeling, squatting, sitting, climbing, and standing
