Job Title: High Performance Computing Network Architect
Job Summary:
Hudson River Trading's High Performance Computing (HPC) Network Engineering team is seeking a highly skilled Network Architect to design and engineer the communications infrastructure for our large-scale distributed research environment. The ideal candidate will have experience designing, deploying, and scaling networks for large HPC environments and will be able to analyze and solve complex problems.
Key Responsibilities:- Design and engineer the HPC network infrastructure to support our large-scale distributed research environment
- Collaborate with the HPC Systems team to scale our research environment and ensure seamless integration with other teams
- Manage and maintain IP address assignments and configurations
- Leverage automation to optimize network efficiency
- Work with remote data center teams to solve challenging problems and perform firmware upgrades on switches and routers
- Travel to global data centers to ensure project completion
- BS in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related IT field or 5+ years of relevant experience
- Incredible attention to detail and excellent prioritization skills
- Self-motivated, independent, eager to learn and apply new skills quickly
- Willingness and ability to solve small technical problems in the field yourself
- Willingness and ability to travel internationally as needed
- Excellent collaboration skills and a willingness to admit mistakes
- Textbook understanding and some practical experience with common layer 2 and layer 3 network protocols and best practices such as OSPF, BGP, PIM, IGMP, spine-leaf architecture, and VXLAN
- Experience with various switch vendors and operating systems, including but not limited to Arista (EOS), Cisco (NX-OS), and SONiC-based switches
- Some experience in designing computing and grid networks, capacity planning, and full lifecycle project management
- Familiarity with packet decoding and analysis tools such as tcpdump and Wireshark
- Familiarity with public cloud networks, such as AWS, GCP, Azure
- Familiarity with configuration management tools, such as Ansible or Salt
- Familiarity with Python, Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, GitHub
- Knowledge of fiber optics technology and cabling standards
- Ability to understand specs of various fiber optic transceivers
- Experience with Unix/Linux command line utilities and networking stack
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Able to create and maintain clear and effective technical documentation
Annual base salary range of $150,000 to $225,000. Pay (base and bonus) may vary depending on job-related skills and experience. A sign-on and discretionary performance bonus may be provided as part of the total compensation package, in addition to company-paid medical and/or other benefits.
