R&D Team Manager

Your role and responsibilities

In this position, you will have the chance to establish and conduct routine evaluations for various products following established testing methodologies and standards. Daily, you will engage in tasks utilizing your skills and techniques, as well as a practical understanding of concepts prevalent in the technology sector. You will also demonstrate your proficiency by ensuring accurate documentation of test outcomes. The work model for this role is: onsite. Your contributions will support the Electrification Installation Products division. Your primary responsibilities will include:
• Supporting R&D engineers in development tasks by assessing components, assembling prototypes, and conducting product verification tests while preparing clear, concise, and precise laboratory reports, including necessary charts, graphs, and calculations.
• Conducting certification testing to UL, CSA, and IEC standards to evaluate products and prototypes; interpreting results to confirm that performance aligns with requirements.
• Building test setups and fixtures that require mechanical and electrical construction as directed by R&D engineers and/or test standard specifications.
• Setting up and gathering data with testing equipment such as tensile testers, ammeters, oscilloscopes, power meters, and thermometers.
• Assisting and participating in audits for ISO 17025 for UL and CSA accreditations, adhering to all safety and operational regulations.

Qualifications for the role
  • Associate's Degree in Engineering, preferably in a mechanical or electrical/electronic discipline.
  • Two years of formal training in a technical, vocational, or certificate program may be considered in lieu of an Associate Degree if relevant technical skills are demonstrated.
  • A minimum of 2 years of relevant work experience in a comparable product engineering or testing laboratory environment; experience in the Electrification industry is preferred.
  • Ability to read, accurately interpret, and apply testing requirements from both international and domestic agency performance standards.
  • Candidates must possess work authorization that allows them to work for ABB in the US.
