Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Special Education Teacher to join our team at Southeastern Co-Operative Educational Programs. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing direct classroom instruction and developing individualized educational and behavioral programs for students with Autism Spectrum Disorder.

Key Responsibilities
  • Instructional Design: Design coherent instruction based on knowledge of subject matter, students, and their individual needs, as well as community and curriculum goals.
  • Curriculum Planning: Plan instruction to achieve desired objectives that reflect the Virginia Standards of Learning and division curriculum.
  • Student Support: Identify individual, group, and classroom needs, develop Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), and select appropriate materials and resources to match the abilities and individual needs of all students.
  • Assessment and Evaluation: Identify and communicate specific student performance expectations and document student learning gains using appropriate assessment instruments.
  • Classroom Environment: Understand the central concepts, strategies, curriculum, and structures of the skills taught and create instruction and learning experiences that are meaningful for all students.
  • Team Collaboration: Work collaboratively with staff, families, and community resources to support the success of a diverse population.
  • Professional Development: Participate in a meaningful and continuous process of professional development that results in the enhancement of student learning.
