Adjunct Professor of Chemistry

Alvin Community College seeks a highly qualified Adjunct Professor of Chemistry to join our faculty. As an adjunct professor, you will teach and supervise students in a diverse classroom environment at various times and locations. You will possess a strong commitment to student engagement, student success, and instructional excellence. Our ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills, both written and oral, and the ability to prepare and utilize course syllabi and assessments using established guidelines.

The successful candidate will maintain current knowledge of effective teaching methodologies and utilize a variety of instructional delivery methods, classroom media, and educational resources. They will assist in the recruitment and retention of students, advise students in academic matters or refer them to appropriate resources, and assess students' performance through a range of measurement activities.

You will also engage students face-to-face and through electronic communications, utilize technology to facilitate learning, and access data, maintain records, generate reports, and communicate with others. The incumbent may encounter frequent interruptions throughout the work day and must be able to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

The minimum qualifications for this position include a Master's degree with 18 graduate semester hours in Chemistry from a regionally accredited college or university. Preference will be given to candidates with a Master's degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, or Chemical Engineering from a regionally accredited college or university, as well as those with at least one year of teaching experience at the college or university level.

The estimated salary for this position is $45,000 - $60,000 per year, depending on qualifications and experience.
