Job Title: Advanced Practice Nurse

We are seeking a highly skilled Advanced Practice Nurse to join our medical oncology service line at RWJBarnabas Health. As a key member of our clinical team, you will provide exceptional patient care and work collaboratively with physicians and other healthcare professionals to deliver high-quality services.

Job Summary:

The Advanced Practice Nurse will be responsible for coordinating inpatient and outpatient care, conducting physical exams, and developing treatment plans in accordance with the objectives, policies, and procedures of the practice and the New Jersey State Board of Medical Examiners Physician Assistant/Nurse Practitioner Advisory Committee.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist physicians with patient care, including recording progress notes, issuing diagnostic orders, and transcribing orders.
  • Provide counseling and education to patients and their families.
  • Bill for patient services based on CMS and NJ State Board Regulations.
  • Develop and implement plans of care for patients in coordination with the multidisciplinary team.
  • Document and maintain patient records according to facility and nursing standards.
  • Establish and maintain collaborative relationships with other medical providers.
  • Examine patients to determine the presence of illness, utilizing physical findings, laboratory results, and medical history to ascertain the nature and extent of illness and prescribe treatments as indicated.
  • Interview, instruct, and advise patients regarding health and illness prevention, instructing patients and their families regarding medications and treatment instructions.
  • Issue prescriptions to patients based on Federal and State Regulations.
  • Order and review laboratory and diagnostic procedures, reviewing all lab data and documenting findings.
  • Participate in the development of protocols.
  • Perform and obtain completed medical histories and physical data on patients, documenting findings and results.
  • Perform independent evaluations and treatment procedures in emergency situations.
  • Provide monitoring and continuity of care between physician visits.
  • Responsible for coordinating nursing and training programs on compliant policies such as HIPAA, OSHA, and Code of Conduct.
  • Responsible for maintaining the quality and adequacy of nursing practice.
  • Reviews and audits charts routinely.
  • Works in collaboration with a physician to diagnose conditions as necessary.
Requirements:
  • Master's degree in Nursing required.
  • Registered Professional Nurse with current NJ state license; CDS and DEA.
  • CPR certification.
  • NP Certification.
  • Three to five years of work experience as a professional nurse.
