Firefighter Reserve

At the City of Sierra Madre, CA, we are seeking highly motivated and dedicated individuals to join our Fire Department as Reserve Firefighters. As a Reserve Firefighter, you will play a vital role in supporting our team and contributing to the safety and well-being of our community.

• Participate in regular training sessions to develop and maintain your firefighting skills and knowledge.
• Assist sworn firefighters with their daily responsibilities and support the mission of the SMFD.
• Engage in fire prevention initiatives, including pre-fire planning, fire prevention programs, and fire hydrant inspections.
• Provide excellent customer service to the public, answering questions and directing individuals to the appropriate staff.
• Participate in or facilitate training sessions and station tours for the public, focusing on fire-related subjects.

• Be at least 18 years old.
• Possess a valid California Driver's License with a good driving record.
• Hold a valid California State EMT License (EMT-B) with local accreditation.
• Have a Certificate of completion from a State of California Accredited Fire Academy.
• Successfully complete the Los Angeles County Fire Chief's Physical Agility Test (Biddle) or Candidate Physical Ability Test (CPAT) within six months prior to application submission.
