Your responsibilities will encompass overseeing mechanical and piping systems throughout the entire project lifecycle, from design to construction, testing, and installation. The position is crucial during the manufacturing phase and in troubleshooting installation challenges on-site.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Evaluate and validate design drawings for precision and compliance.
  • Guarantee the reliability, efficiency, and safety of mechanical engineering deliverables.
  • Participate in Design and Development Planning and Review meetings.
  • Generate requisitions for mechanical systems and associated components.
  • Assess vendor quotes and provide insights to the procurement team.
  • Create and finalize mechanical engineering documentation, including drawings and calculations.
  • Examine electrical systems to detect and rectify issues, focusing on load balancing, capacity planning, and optimizing power consumption.
  • Engage in site visits, project discussions, and commissioning processes as required.
  • Compile bulk Material Take Offs (MTOs) and detailed Bills of Materials (BOMs).
  • Identify and specify appropriate painting and coating systems for various components within data centers.
  • Design and select insulation for piping as necessary.
  • Determine the appropriate brackets, fasteners, and mounting solutions for major equipment and components.
  • Develop or review the "Design Basis" document tailored to the project, ensuring alignment with applicable codes, client specifications, and company scope.
  • Conduct or verify pipe stress analysis considering all relevant design loads and combinations as per the "Design Basis".
  • Provide piping load data to structural engineers.
  • Review "as-built" drawings and re-evaluate calculations to ensure compliance.
COMPENSATION:
  • Competitive salary up to $160,000/year based on experience.

EDUCATION:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited institution.
  • Other relevant degrees (such as Industrial Engineering or Mechatronics) may be considered with sufficient data center expertise.
  • Professional Engineering License is highly preferred.
REQUIREMENTS:
  • At least 7 years of experience in mechanical design and engineering, specifically within data center infrastructure.
  • Capability to produce drawings and sketches to convey design concepts.
  • General knowledge and hands-on experience with the construction, operation, and maintenance of data centers or mechanical systems.
  • Strong expertise in piping and fire suppression system design and implementation.
  • Familiarity with industry standards, codes, and regulations, including AISI, ANSI, ASME, ASTM, AWS, IBC, MFMS, MSS, OSHA, NACE, NFPA, PFI, as well as CAD and BIM software.
