Job Summary:

Piedmont is seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to assume administrative responsibility for all areas/functions of the Perioperative Services Division. As the Director of Surgical Services, you will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the division, ensuring safe staffing needs are consistently met, and developing budgets for assigned areas.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure high-quality patient care and efficient operations.
  • Lead departmental strategic planning and policy-making, and engage in decision-making through membership on hospital and departmental committees.
  • Provide direction and input regarding equipment/supply needs, renovations, and environmental issues in preparation of operating and capital equipment budgets.
  • Coordinate the needs of physicians and act as liaison between the medical staff and the nursing staff by serving as a problem solver and mediator.
  • Support the development and sustainment of Shared Governance and its functions related to Nursing Evaluation, Peer Review, Policy/Procedures, and Standards of Nursing Practice.
  • Ensure unit orientation programs meet learning needs of new employees and prepare staff to fulfill requirements of position.
  • Provide for, and coordinate, unit-based educational programs.
  • Evaluate the quality of patient care provided in assigned areas through collaboration with department, hospital, and corporate resources.
  • Assure policies and procedures are in compliance with those of the hospital, health system, division of nursing, and all regulatory agencies.
  • Direct human resources responsibilities for staff, including interviewing and selection of new employees, promotions, staff development, performance evaluations, compensation changes, resolution of employee concerns, corrective actions, terminations, and overall employee morale.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing, Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, or another related field required. Master's degree strongly preferred.
  • Five (5) years of nursing experience and three (3) years of progressive management/leadership experience required.
  • Current License in the State of Georgia as a Registered Nurse or NLC/eNLC Multistate License required.
  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing preferred. Master's degree in Nursing or related field preferred. Certification in area of clinical specialty desired.

Working Conditions:

  • Subject to work long, irregular hours including mental, emotional, and physical stress.
  • Must be able to push, pull, and lift weight up to 50 pounds; be able to endure prolonged, extensive, and considerable standing, walking, stooping, and reaching.
  • Must be fluent in English-speaking, reading, and writing (must exhibit legible penmanship).
  • Must possess normal to near-normal vision, hearing, and manual dexterity.
  • Must be able to transport and move/position patients.
