The DispatchHealth Medical Technician III (DHMT - III) plays a crucial role in enhancing patient care by assisting with physical assessments, conducting point-of-care tests, and gathering essential data.
Operating under the guidance of a virtual DispatchHealth Advanced Practice Provider (Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant), the DHMT III is present with patients in their residences.
Strong organizational skills and a commitment to customer service are vital for success in this Enhanced Hybrid role.Comprehensive on-the-job training will be provided, offering an exciting opportunity to contribute to the delivery of hospital-level healthcare within the comfort of a patient's home.
Responsibilities include:- Properly donning and doffing PPE while adhering to strict infection control protocols.
- Communicating with healthcare providers through messaging, video conferencing, and mobile devices.
- Measuring vital signs and assisting in the collection of patient information.
- Facilitating physical examinations using mobile technology and performing other diagnostic tests and treatments as requested by the virtual provider, in accordance with state regulations.
- Conducting point-of-care lab tests as directed by the virtual provider.
- Providing discharge instructions in collaboration with the virtual provider.
- Managing equipment usage, care, and distribution.
- Restocking and sanitizing equipment at the end of each shift.
- Completing additional tasks as necessary to ensure successful patient visits and maintain equipment and vehicles.
Qualifications include:
- Emergency Medical Technician - Paramedic certification (EMT-P) in good standing.
- Ability to lift and transport equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Capability to navigate multiple flights of stairs while carrying equipment.
- Experience in comprehensive history gathering and documentation within electronic medical records (EMR).
- A bachelor's degree in a core science or laboratory science, along with a minimum of 2 years' experience in chemistry and hematology, particularly with the use of an i-STAT device, is preferred.
- Flexibility to work varied schedules, including evenings, holidays, and weekends.
