The State of New Mexico is seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Inspector to join our team. As a Mechanical Inspector, you will be responsible for conducting on-site inspections of mechanical and plumbing installations in New Mexico to ensure compliance with current adopted codes and standards.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct field inspections to protect the life, health, safety, and property of New Mexico residents
- Research and familiarize yourself with current codes and standards to ensure compliance
- Communicate daily with supervisors, contractors, homeowners, architects, and engineers to ensure properly permitted and licensed installations
- Provide assistance in other inspection areas as needed
- Valid New Mexico Inspector Certification and national Mechanical/Plumbing Inspector certifications
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) and reside within the assigned area of duty
- Ability to pass a background check and maintain a valid driver's license
Incumbent will move about construction job sites in all types of weather and conditions. Climbing ladders, negotiating ditches and trenches, and avoiding hazards typically related to construction sites. The incumbent must lift up to 25 pounds. Work is performed using a personal computer for extended periods.
