We are seeking a skilled Radiation Therapist II to join our team at 100 Aurora Health Care Metro, Inc. in Oncology: Radiation. As a key member of our medical team, you will be responsible for delivering and recording radiation therapy treatments under the direction of a Radiation Oncologist.
Key Responsibilities- Deliver and record radiation therapy treatments in accordance with treatment plans and protocols.
- Collaborate with the medical team to review images and port films for patient set ups, selection of treatment devices, and verification.
- Perform daily quality assurance (QA) on equipment prior to treatment, recognizing and troubleshooting equipment malfunctions, and initiating corrective measures.
- Enter and maintain patient treatment parameters in electronic medical records, ensuring accurate and timely documentation.
- Maintain patient appointment schedules and ensure proper charge capture for treatments.
- Perform conventional and computed tomography (CT) simulation in preparation for patient treatment, including cutting blocks, making custom immobilization, and completing monitor unit (MU) calculations.
- Perform patient positioning and transporting duties, utilizing proper technique and adhering to safety protocols.
- Provide patient care that is appropriate to the age of the patients served, demonstrating knowledge of growth and development principles and assessing patient needs relative to their age-specific requirements.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA) within 6 months.
- Radiation Therapy (RT) registration issued by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) within 1 year.
- Advanced training beyond High School in Radiation Therapy or a related field.
- No experience required.
- Knowledge of treatment planning and treatment techniques.
- Knowledge of record and verify system, radiation oncology equipment, and electronic medical record systems.
- Knowledge and ability to learn and apply complex radiation therapy principles.
- Competent with general radiation equipment.
- Intermediate computer skills and knowledge of electronic health records.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively with physicians, staff, patients, and their families.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. from floor to waist.
- Must be able to lift up to 20 lbs. over the head.
- Must be able to carry up to 40 lbs. a reasonable distance.
- Must be able to push/pull with 30 lbs. of force.
- Must be able to perform a sliding transfer of 150 lbs. with a second person present.
- Must be able to utilize proper body mechanics.
- Must be able to stand/walk 95% of the time, as well as lift, squat, bend, twist, and reach above shoulders.
- Must be exposed to mechanical, electrical, chemical, and radiation hazards.
- Must have clear speech, vision, and hearing.
