Migrant Education Recruiter

The Migrant Education Recruiter is responsible for identifying and recruiting eligible migrant families, students, and emancipated youth in the Southwest region. This role involves coordinating communications between home and school to promote the educational achievement of migrant students and out-of-school youth.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Conduct surveys and recruit eligible migrant students on the SEA database during the calendar year.
2. Submit relevant forms, documentation, and records on migrant children to the data specialist and/or director.
3. Maintain a school visit schedule to increase the efficiency of recruitment efforts and enrollments/withdrawals.
4. Assist the Education ECE Advocate in providing early childhood services.
5. Electronically submit forms, including parent signatures, to the data specialist.
6. Assist the Director and educational advocates with parental involvement efforts.
7. Participate in parent meetings as required and help prepare announcements for parents and school staff.
8. Assist in communications and completing required forms, including updating and re-enrolling eligible students.
9. Assist educational advocates in enrolling students in regular year and summer school programs and other activities to advance academic success.
10. Transport students for health/dental screenings as needed.
11. Translate forms and letters as required.
12. Collaborate with data specialists in planning and conducting recruitment blitzes.
13. Attend monthly meetings with the data specialist to discuss recruitment and identification activities and plans.
14. Attend interagency meetings related to migrant families and keep records of such meetings as requested.
15. Complete other duties as assigned by the Director.
Additional Responsibilities:
1. Prepare written reports and record data accurately.
2. Meet all deadlines and fulfill daily responsibilities while working toward long-term objectives.
3. Organize and assist in facilitating MEP special events.
4. Other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
1. High school diploma, GED, or sufficient experience.
2. Bilingual abilities, proficiency in Spanish, Q'anjob'al, and English, oral and written.
3. Knowledge and understanding of the challenges involved in the migrant lifestyle.
4. Ability to communicate and work with a variety of people.
5. Skills in record keeping and meeting management.
6. Computer experience using various data systems is preferred.
7. Reliable transportation and willingness to work a flexible schedule to make home visits.
8. Overnight travel to workshops/meetings/trainings/conferences as required.
9. Maintain daily recruiter/mileage logs, biweekly reports, and other accountability forms as required.
10. Ability to treat others with respect, civility, and courtesy and to work honestly, effectively, and collegially with employees, students, and the community.
Salary and Benefits:
$39,000-$44,000. Salary is commensurate with education, qualification, and experience.
