Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Food Service Officer to join our team at a correctional facility. As a Food Service Officer, you will be responsible for maintaining custody, care, and control of inmates assigned to Food Service activities while enforcing and following facility rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.

Key Responsibilities
  • Direct, Supervise, and Monitor Detainees: Direct, supervise, and monitor detainees assigned to Food Services in terms of food preparation, cleanup, and sanitation.
  • Conduct Counts and Respond to Emergencies: Monitor inmate or detainee movements, conduct counts, and respond to emergencies.
  • Perform Shakedowns and Confiscate Contraband: Perform shakedowns for contraband materials and confiscate prohibited items as per policies and procedures.
  • Keep Daily Logs and Disciplinary Reports: Keep daily logs on inmates (including disciplinary reports).
  • Provide Assistance and Report Maintenance Needs: Provide prompt and appropriate assistance to those who have been injured, ill, or have suffered trauma. Report any maintenance or repair needs to keep your facility clean.
Requirements
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent certification required.
  • Training and Experience: Successful completion of training courses as required by GEO and facility training standards, including ACA required training. Demonstrated experience in food service activities, with commercial or institutional meal preparation preferred.
  • Physical Requirements: Ability to frequently bend, stoop, and reach above shoulder level. Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 60 lbs. (sometimes more). Ability to drive automatic equipment vehicle. Ability to climb, sit, and sometimes work in extreme temperatures.
