Key Responsibilities
  1. Operate marina functions independently under the Dockmaster's general guidance.
  2. Manage fee collection and assign docking and anchoring spaces.
  3. Safely conduct pump and tender operations as necessary.
  4. Facilitate reservations and process payments with professionalism and courtesy.
  5. Assist the Dockmaster in maintaining docks, facilities, and grounds while ensuring adherence to safety protocols.
  6. Ensure cleanliness of the marina, including buildings, grounds, docks, and restrooms.
  7. Regularly empty trash receptacles and pick up litter as needed.
  8. Demonstrate strong customer service and public relations skills.
  9. Provide assistance during vessel docking and departure, ensuring compliance with procedures.
  10. Monitor marina activities and vessels arriving, staying, or leaving.
  11. Support maintenance and repair efforts for floating docks and gangways.
  12. Perform additional tasks as assigned.
Required Knowledge and Skills
  1. Understanding of customer service principles and practices.
  2. Familiarity with records management principles.
  3. Proficiency in using computers and relevant software.
  4. Basic knowledge of power tools.
  5. Ability to learn marina terminology and dock regulations.

Supervision

The Dockmaster provides general instructions for tasks, with oversight on completed work to ensure compliance and accuracy.

Guidelines

Work is governed by city and departmental policies, which may require interpretation in specific situations.

Work Complexity
  • Responsibilities involve customer interaction and familiarity with nautical terms and vessels.
  • This position is crucial for the efficient operation and upkeep of the marina facility.

Physical Requirements and Work Environment
  • Availability to work unconventional hours, including weekends and holidays.
  • Work is primarily outdoors in various weather conditions, requiring prolonged standing and the ability to lift objects up to 50 pounds, climb ladders, and utilize tools with dexterity.
  • Swimming ability is required.
Supervisory Responsibilities

This position does not include supervisory duties.

Minimum Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience in marina or boating operations is preferred.
  • Any combination of training and experience that provides the necessary skills and knowledge for the role.
  • Valid state driver's license for the type of vehicle or equipment operated.
  • Experience in customer service is beneficial.
