Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Research Scientist Intermediate to join our team at Virginia Jobs. The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting complex laboratory research and developing, designing, and conducting increasingly complex research projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Research and Development: Conduct laboratory research and develop, design, and conduct increasingly complex research projects.
  • Experimental Procedures: Perform experimental procedures, collect information and data, and prepare tissues and specimens for procedures.
  • Project Management: Oversee day-to-day operation of projects, schedule and maintain records of equipment/facilities, and manage budgets.
  • Training and Development: Train users in equipment operation and research techniques, and explain and demonstrate technology and equipment capabilities, operations, limitations, and outcomes.
  • Data Analysis: Determine interview procedures, conduct interviews, and analyze research results.
  • Collaboration: Confer with Principal Investigators in developing plans for research projects and discuss the interpretation of results and the preparation of scientific manuscripts for publication.
  • Supervision: Supervise research support personnel and manage budgets.
Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor's degree.
  • Experience: 6 years of experience in a lab technician role. Master's degree may substitute for required experience. 9 years of lab-related experience accepted in lieu of degree.
  • Licensure: None.
  • Preferred Skills: Mouse breeding, genotyping, and maintenance; bioinformatics knowledge; molecular assays (RT-PCR, qPCR, Western blot, Immunofluorescence, etc.); cell culture; Master's in any Biology field.
