The Medical Records Specialist plays a vital role in maintaining accurate and organized patient records, providing exceptional support to our healthcare team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide clerical support, including preparation of admission packets, typing, and filing
  • Communicate with physicians, patients, and families to ensure seamless care coordination
  • Assist with scheduling, intake, and director of clinical services as needed
  • Promote the agency philosophy and mission by presenting a positive image to patients, families, and community agencies
Requirements
  • High School Graduate
  • Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Knowledge of medical terminology preferred
  • Reliable transportation and valid auto insurance
Work Environment

Works in customers' offices in various conditions, with occasional travel to customers' locations and exposure to unpleasant weather.

Physical and Mental Effort

Prolonged sitting and some standing required, with occasional need to lift, pull, carry, and push items weighing up to 50 lbs.

Essential Functions
  • Understands and exhibits the Traditions Health Care Mission Statement

  • Organizes, sorts, and maintains documentation in patient files in a timely manner
  • Provides clerical support, including preparation of admission packets, typing, and filing
  • Sends orders to MDs via fax, mail, hand carry, and processes signed orders in chart upon return
  • Confirms consents signed in new admission charts, documents/communicates respite care, and assures DNR in place correctly
  • Notifies MD of missed visits, drug interactions, and communications
  • Hospitalization follow-up, 30- and 60-day DC follow-up calls
  • Assists scheduler, intake, director of clinical services, and branch director as needed
  • Works with Account Executives to assure timely order signatures
  • Contacts MD offices on late orders
  • Promotes the agency philosophy and mission by presenting a positive image to patients, families, and community agencies
