Job Summary

We are seeking a Pediatric Nurse Specialist to join our team at Lancaster General Health. This role will provide primary care exclusively for children from birth through age 18+.

About the Role

The Pediatric Nurse Specialist will work in an outpatient setting, providing a coordinated and holistic approach to patient care through our patient-centered model. You will partner with our providers and other members of our clinical support team to deliver high-quality patient care.

Responsibilities
  • Prepare patients for visits by utilizing LGHP rooming standards tool.
  • Review and prepare patient prescription refills requests.
  • Administer injections and medications as prescribed by providers and in accordance with department protocol, regulatory requirements, and standards of practice.
  • Provide ongoing patient education on preventive care, chronic care management, medication usage, acute diagnosis treatment, and follow-up.
  • Assist providers with office-based procedures and treatments.
  • Perform Point of Care Testing, including hearing and vision screening, Spot Vision Screenings, Rapid Cepheid Influenza, RSV, and COVID tests.
  • Track and monitor patient-administered tests and overdue laboratory orders.
  • Assess wounds and initiate removal of sutures/staples as needed.
  • Maintain and clean exam rooms after each patient visit.
  • Clean and maintain medical instruments and equipment after procedures.
  • Participate in performance improvement initiatives to enhance patient experience and quality of care.
  • Advocate for patients and their families through personalized interactions.
  • Handle patient information confidentially according to Lancaster General Health's policies and procedures.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Completion of LPN or RN educational program.
  • Current licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) issued by the PA State Board of Nursing.
  • AHA CPR/BLS certification required.
Preferred Qualifications
  • 1-2 years of nursing experience in primary or specialty care physician's offices.
  • Prior triage or related specialty nursing experience.

Salary Information

The estimated salary for this position is $65,000-$80,000 per year, depending on experience and qualifications.
