Material Handler 3rd Shift Specialist

Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled Material Handler 3rd Shift to join our team at WestRock. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth flow of materials throughout our facility.
Key Responsibilities:
- Stage orders for shipment according to shipping clerk and scheduler instructions.
- Receive incoming shipments according to established procedures and inspect for damage.
- Support the floor in all aspects of production regarding supplies, including operating fork lift trucks and hand lift trucks.
- Empties waste containers in each process area and separates and properly discards corrugated, printed material, and miscellaneous garbage.
- Unpacks and examines incoming shipments, rejects damaged items, and uses RF Scanner to document and track material movement.
- Performs banding, stretch wrapping, and prepares materials for shipment in accordance with job jacket and/or customer packing specifications.
- Interfaces with truckers for outbound shipments and ensures all necessary documentation and samples are properly secured.
- Maintains superior cleanliness of work area and common areas.
Requirements:
- 6-12 months' related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience, preferred.
- Ability to read and write complex instructions, correspondence, and memos.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Must be able to pass a Line Clearance Test and Ruler Test.
- Must have the ability to meet and/or pass the minimum requirement on a mechanical test or have demonstrated mechanical aptitude through prior work experience.
- Ability to perform basic arithmetic including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
- Experience with RF scanners and bar codes is preferred.
- Certified or licensed fork lift drivers preferred.
- Must have good communication skills.
- Must have knowledge of loading techniques.
- Must be willing to work overtime as needed; significant overtime may be required during busy periods.
- Must be able to maintain good attendance.
- Must be able to perform all essential functions of this job with or without reasonable accommodation.
