Job Summary

The Interventional Radiology Technologist plays a vital role in the diagnosis and treatment of patients by performing interventional and diagnostic x-ray procedures under the supervision of a qualified physician.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist interventional radiologists in various procedures, including angiography, fluoroscopy, CT, OR, and ultrasound.
  • Practice radiation and laser safety protocols to ensure patient, staff, and self-safety.
  • Utilize sterile technique as required to maintain a clean and safe environment.
  • Perform venipuncture and other procedures as needed.
  • Optimize patient anatomy through proper positioning and technical factor selection.
  • Function as the first scrub role, preparing and organizing instruments, supplies, and equipment for safe patient care.
  • Recognize and communicate arrhythmias, monitor arterial and/or venous pressure lines, and operate interventional radiology equipment and support systems.
  • Coordinate exams within the department and with other departments to provide expedient and complete care.
  • Communicate with medical staff, coworkers, patients, families, and other hospital staff to ensure quality patient care.
Requirements
  • Graduate from a school of radiologic technology with current certification or eligibility for certification by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
  • Valid state medical radiographer license required.
  • Basic Life Support (CPR) certification required.
  • Electrocardiogram (ECG) certification required.
