Metallurgical Specialist

PAICCO is seeking a highly skilled Metallurgist to oversee the operation of our Metal lab and Sand lab in Gaylord, Michigan. This position is responsible for ensuring that all necessary testing is conducted to meet associated standards.

Key Responsibilities:

• Promote a safe work environment and ensure employees understand safety expectations.
• Promote company culture, mission, and vision, and adhere to company policies and procedures.
• Be knowledgeable in Metal lab equipment, including Spectrometer, Tensile testing, Carbon Sulfur analyzer, and other testing instruments.
• Oversee lab testing techniques and maintain test documentation.
• Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
• Technical writing.
• Ensure technical parameters are within specified ranges or take corrective action to maintain product quality.
• Ensure test procedures and equipment comply with ASTM standards.
• Ensure finished product conforms to customer specifications.
• Conduct analysis of casting defects and recommend process improvements.
• Investigate quality problems related to metallurgical or sand issues and recommend corrective actions.
• Conduct research projects in areas such as technical improvements, process improvements, and variation reduction.
• Provide technical expertise to production employees and offer process improvement recommendations.
• Assist in management of quality systems, including ISO, BNQ, NF, etc.

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Material Science, Metallurgy, or Metallurgical Engineering.
• Three or more years of related experience, with solid knowledge of chemical and structural makeup of ferrous iron, preferred.
• Experience with Lean/Six Sigma Methodology and strong team participation, a plus.
