Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough pre- and post-operation inspections of the vehicle in line with company protocols to verify tire pressure, fluid levels, safety equipment, gauges, and controls are functioning correctly. Report any safety concerns using standard procedures.
  • Safely navigate your heavy truck along the designated route to the disposal site; interpret route sheets, follow maps, and service each customer as indicated or assigned by the dispatcher.
  • Utilize manual and/or automatic controls according to company safety guidelines to lift and load refuse, operate compactors, and dispose of collected materials at the appropriate facility.
  • Engage courteously with customers, dispatchers, and colleagues daily to ensure timely and professional service on all routes.
  • Identify and tag unsatisfactory waste containers following departmental procedures.
  • Continuously monitor waste for unacceptable materials and manage any accidental spills in compliance with safety standards.
  • Regularly check the vehicle's condition to ensure operational readiness, minimizing downtime; clean waste from the packer blade and truck body as necessary on each trip.
  • Complete required route/productivity documentation, VCRs, and other reports as needed, maintaining adherence to productivity standards to ensure efficient customer service.
  • Abide by all safety policies and procedures.
  • Perform additional job-related tasks as assigned.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Possession of a valid Class A or B Commercial Driver's License and DOT physical card.
  • Preferred two years of experience driving commercial trucks.
  • Ability to read and write clearly.
  • Compliance with company policies regarding controlled substances and alcohol.
  • Capability to work independently with minimal oversight.
  • Strong customer service skills to meet and exceed expectations; demonstrate professionalism, courtesy, and cooperation with customers and colleagues.
  • Excellent time management skills to ensure efficient and safe completion of responsibilities.
  • Good follow-through abilities; adhere to work schedules and effectively address challenges as they arise.
  • Commitment to upholding company policies and safety standards; avoid unnecessary risks.
  • Maintain pride in work and strive to achieve all set goals.
