Position Overview

We are seeking a Senior Backend Engineer with a strong focus on GraphQL and TypeScript. This role is fully remote and offers a competitive salary range of $150-175K plus bonuses. Candidates must be U.S. Citizens or Green Card Holders.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Lead and mentor a team of 5-12 backend developers, fostering a collaborative environment.
  2. Design and develop robust backend applications utilizing TypeScript, JavaScript, and GraphQL.
  3. Ensure code quality by writing clean, maintainable, and well-documented code following best practices.
  4. Collaborate with frontend developers to achieve seamless integration between client-side and server-side logic.
  5. Implement efficient GraphQL APIs with a strong emphasis on security and performance.
  6. Work closely with the database team to optimize data storage and retrieval processes.
  7. Conduct code reviews and mentor junior developers in backend technologies.
  8. Participate in system design processes, focusing on GraphQL architecture.
  9. Engage in regular one-on-one meetings with team members to provide constructive feedback.
  10. Oversee deployment processes to ensure smooth application delivery.
  11. Contribute to agile development processes, including sprint planning and retrospectives.

Required Skills

  • Extensive experience in backend development.
  • Proficiency in TypeScript and API development (both GraphQL and RESTful).
  • Experience with SQL and ability to write and review SQL queries.
  • Familiarity with Postgres, Redis, and ElasticSearch/OpenSearch.
  • Knowledge of AWS technologies such as OpenSearch, CloudFormation, and Lambda.
  • Strong problem-solving and debugging capabilities.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills.
  • Experience with Agile/Scrum methodologies.

Preferred Qualifications

  • B.S./M.S. in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • 8+ years of experience in backend system development.
  • 4+ years of experience with GraphQL.
  • 2+ years in a leadership role.
