Job Summary

Advanced Energy is seeking a Materials Planner II to join our team. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for managing new product introduction (NPI) scheduling and release processes to ensure successful design, build, and transfer of new products from our global design centers into manufacturing.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan, schedule, coordinate, and/or monitor final approval of products through the complete product development process (PDP)
  • Coordinate production plans for new products to ensure availability of material to meet project schedules
  • Manage on-time-delivery goals of products by committed ship date
  • Work to resolve capacity, material constraints, and other potential schedule interruptions
  • Approve unit quantities, schedules, and parts lists provided to the material control organization to ensure timely and complete ordering, as well as receipt and issuance of production material requirements
  • Manage and implement NPI engineering change orders (ECOs)
  • Coordinate with engineering to create and maintain bill of material (BOMs) in SAP
  • Manage the release of parts, modules, and/or units to appropriate departments in production
  • Create and maintain work orders, purchase requests, and internal transfer orders
Requirements
  • Advanced knowledge of internal proprietary systems used for managing projects and materials
  • Ability to lead, plan, and support the team related to any material management
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written; ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, engineers, and peers
  • Ability to define problems, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
  • Demonstrated proficiency with Windows-based platforms and with computer-based tools, including working knowledge of database, spreadsheet, and word processing software
  • Ability to multitask and work to strict deadlines within a fast-paced environment
Preferred Qualifications
  • 1-3 years in purchasing/planning environment
  • Basic understanding of manufacturing planning/scheduling and the processes associated with MRP/ERP
  • Proven track record of success and growth in positions of increasing responsibility
  • Previous experience with SAP desired or preferred
  • Experience working in a team and group setting with upper-level managers
  • Knowledge and/or experience of planning, scheduling, or organizing tasks
  • Embrace new technology and demonstrate an understanding of computer-based systems/equipment
  • 4 years of experience supporting engineering teams, administrative support, or any related experience preferred
  • Knowledge of planning tools, software, or CMMS systems preferred
Education
  • Bachelor of Science degree in operations management, finance, materials management, supply chain, engineering, or equivalent education
  • Prefer American Production and Inventory Control Society (APICS) or Certified Purchasing Manager (CPM) certification or other international certification
