This position is eligible for a $20,000 Sign-On Bonus
To provide high-quality patient care to critically ill, injured, or post-surgical patients requiring close monitoring and specialized interventions; collaborate with medical staff and other disciplines to ensure quality care while adhering to approved policies and scope of practice. Supervise and delegate duties to other personnel as needed.
Reports to: Director, Nursing
FLSA: Non-exempt
Essential Functions- Perform plan of care interventions, including medication administration, specimen collection, clinical treatments, and other medical care treatments.
- Document patient care provided.
- Monitor, record, and communicate patient condition as necessary to the care team, physician, patient, and family.
- Assist patients with activities of daily living, including personal hygiene, elimination, nutrition, and ambulation.
- Collaborate across disciplines to coordinate patient care, including patient transfer, discharge, referral, and spiritual/psychosocial support needs.
- Evaluate patient learning needs and provide patient/family education appropriate to age, culture, condition, and circumstances.
- Work as an advocate for the physical and emotional well-being of the patient.
- Participate in Code Blue situations and lead the event until physician arrival.
- Manage various drips, ventilators, and other life-support systems.
- Use critical thinking skills in the performance of all job duties, including analysis of test results.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
- Minimum Education: Associate's Degree in Nursing required; Bachelor's Degree in Nursing preferred.
- Required Skills: Critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, and ability to work with minimal supervision; ability to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action; excellent communication skills; ability to respond to and perform in emergent situations; excellent assessment skills.
- Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) required; Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) within 3 months of hire; Handle with Care within 4 months of hire.
- License: Current RN license to practice in NC (NC licensure or multi-state compact license).
- Minimum Work Experience: 1-3 years preferred; recent acute care experience within past 3 years preferred.
