Job Description

Job Title: Data Abstraction Specialist

Job Summary:

The Fund for Public Health in New York City is seeking a highly skilled Data Abstraction Specialist to join our team. As a Data Abstraction Specialist, you will play a critical role in supporting the advancement of public health initiatives in New York City.

Responsibilities:

  • Abstract data from medical examiner and toxicology reports and enter it into a database.
  • Review medical examiner reports and toxicology reports, abstract data, and enter data into an electronic database.
  • Follow security standards for working with sensitive data and proper tracking procedures.
  • Assist with ongoing development of data abstraction training materials and evaluation of current protocol and processes to improve and streamline current methods.
  • Participate in data abstraction training to stay up to date with data entry procedures and unique coding scenarios.
  • Attend meetings and provide findings to necessary parties upon request.

Requirements:

  • BA/BS in sociology, psychology, anthropology, public health, or a related social science field.
  • Experience conducting administrative tasks simultaneously and efficiently.
  • Excellent computer and communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills.

Compensation:

This position will be hired through a staffing agency. Compensation for the position is hourly, with a rate up to $25/hour commensurate with experience.

Work Hours:

Monday-Friday 9-5, with flexibility.

Residency Requirement:

You must live in the New York City Tri-state area (NY, NJ, CT).
