About the Role

Safety Management Group of IN Inc is seeking a highly skilled Construction Safety Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our organization, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safety and well-being of our clients and their employees.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee Construction Projects: Ensure OSHA compliance and implement best practices to prevent accidents and injuries.
  • Act as Main HSE Contact: Collaborate with general contractors to ensure safety protocols are in place and adhered to.
  • Participate in Investigations: Conduct thorough investigations into incidents and near-misses to identify root causes and implement corrective actions.
  • Hazard Recognition: Identify potential hazards and take proactive measures to mitigate risks.
  • Ensure PPE Use: Ensure all personnel wear personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
  • Conduct Daily Safety Audits: Inspect work sites to ensure compliance with safety regulations and company policies.
  • Inspect Power Tools and Equipment: Regularly inspect power tools and heavy equipment to ensure they are in good working condition.
  • Participate in Daily Start-Up Meetings: Attend daily meetings to discuss safety protocols and address any concerns.
  • Monitor High-Risk Activities: Actively monitor contractor activities that pose high risks, such as fall protection, LOTO, hot work, and crane operations.
  • Perform Safety Gemba Walks: Conduct regular safety walks to identify potential hazards and areas for improvement.
  • Create Lockout/Tagout Procedures: Develop and implement lockout/tagout procedures for new equipment.
  • Ensure Equipment Guarding Compliance: Ensure all equipment meets fire, life, and safety requirements.
  • Create Pre-Startup Safety Review Checklist: Develop a checklist to ensure equipment is properly prepared for startup.
  • Create Construction to Operation Transition Plan: Develop a plan to ensure a smooth transition from construction to operation, including safety training and equipment commissioning.
Requirements
  • Minimum 5 to 10 Years of Construction Safety Experience: Proven experience in construction safety, with a strong understanding of OSHA regulations and industry standards.
  • OSHA 30 Hour in Construction, OSHA 510, or CHST Certification: Possess a valid OSHA certification, with a strong understanding of construction safety protocols.
  • Knowledge of General Industry Standards: Familiarity with general industry standards and regulations.
  • First Aid/CPR Certification: Possess a valid first aid/CPR certification.
  • Strong Knowledge of Construction Safety Standards: In-depth knowledge of construction safety standards, including fall protection, hot work, scaffolding, steel erection, and excavation.
  • Excellent Verbal and Written Skills: Strong communication and writing skills, with the ability to effectively communicate safety protocols and procedures.
