Nurse Practitioner

To ensure high-quality patient care by adhering to physician orders, state and federal regulations, and facility policies and procedures.
Key Responsibilities:- Makes regular rounds to monitor patient care and receive/give report.
- Counts narcotics at the beginning and end of the shift, verifying accuracy and initialing the count sheet.
- Performs fingersticks as ordered by the MD during the shift.
- Administers medications (oral, s.q., I.M., or I.V.) as prescribed by the MD and in accordance with facility policies.
- Checks critical patients frequently, documents findings, and notifies the supervisor and/or MD as necessary.
- Observes patients for symptoms and reactions, reporting significant changes to the supervisor and/or MD.
- Leads, guides, and supervises nursing assistants and orderlies.
- Monitors documentation of care and treatments performed by nursing assistants and orderlies.
- Completes incident reports and notifies the MD if necessary.
- Documents nursing care and treatments according to facility policies and procedures.
- Admits new patients, completing necessary documentation and requisitions.
- Transfers and discharges patients as ordered by the physician.
- Assists physicians with rounds and notifies the MD of any medication errors.
- Documents PRN medications and their effectiveness.
Familiarity with facility policies and procedures, as well as state and federal regulations.
Ability to work effectively in a team environment and lead nursing assistants and orderlies.
Strong communication and documentation skills.
