Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Applications Specialist to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for focusing on workplace safety, preparing samples, conducting metallurgical test work, and maintaining laboratory equipment. Additionally, the role will involve conducting metals and cyanide analysis, developing expertise in online analyzers, and communicating with the process team to implement optimization programs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Focusing on workplace safety, including risk assessments and hazard identification
  • Preparing samples, including splitting, crushing, pulverizing, sizing, and specific gravity determination
  • Conducting metallurgical test work, such as pre-leach processing, leaching, flotation, and sample treatment
  • Maintaining laboratory equipment, including checking and troubleshooting instrumentation
  • Conducting metals and cyanide analysis, using multiple methodologies
  • QC/QA for Cyanco/Orica products and general analytical backup for all Cyanco/Orica plants
  • Developing expertise in online analyzers and communicating with the process team
  • Field work, including cyanide analyzer troubleshooting, operation, and training, as well as assisting with CN assessment and process health check technical report writing
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or Metallurgy
  • Minimum 4 years' experience in the chemical or mining industry, or 2 years' experience with a master's degree
  • Comprehensive knowledge of chemistry, with a preference for chemistry of gold/silver extraction knowledge
  • Strong customer service skills and ability to maintain good customer relationships
  • Strong analytical abilities, chemistry aptitude, and problem-solving skills
  • Strong knowledge of safe laboratory and mine site practices, particularly related to hazardous materials
  • General knowledge of environmental processes and practices, as well as I&E principles
  • Knowledge of general laboratory procedures, including wet chemistry and instrumentation
  • Strong organizational, planning, and process/change management skills
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficient with Microsoft Suite
