Team Composition: The Vascular Section is comprised of two vascular surgeons, rotating general surgical residents, mid-level providers, and an RN nurse case manager, fostering a collaborative environment.

Facilities: Our institution has recently completed two advanced interventional suites within the cardiology department, allowing for an expanded capacity to perform endovascular procedures. The cardiology clinic is equipped with a fully operational vascular lab, staffed by cardiologists, radiologists, and a vascular surgeon.

Call Schedule: The current vascular call schedule is integrated with general surgery, but there is flexibility for vascular surgeons to maintain a dedicated vascular call without general surgery duties.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct initial evaluations and comprehensive workups, including history and physicals, for vascular surgery patients.
  • Provide patient education regarding their medical conditions and anticipated treatment plans, ensuring Veterans are informed about the risks and benefits of surgical interventions.
  • Participate in various hospital committees to contribute to the institution's operational excellence.
  • Maintain Continuing Medical Education (CME) requirements to uphold licensure and specialized certifications.
  • Collaborate effectively with patients and colleagues, treating all healthcare professionals and patients' families with respect and dignity.
  • Understand and adhere to the Medical Bylaws of the facility.
  • Serve as a consultant to other medical center staff and trainees, and provide training to medical students, residents, and mid-level providers.

Academic Opportunities: The ability to secure an academic appointment with our university affiliate is essential. Surgical procedures will encompass both endovascular and open techniques, including but not limited to carotid endarterectomy and vascular interventions of the iliofemoral system, aorta, and renal dialysis access.

General Surgical Knowledge: Familiarity with basic general surgical procedures may be required, including appendectomy, cholecystectomy, and herniorrhaphy. The position is anticipated to be approximately 95% clinical and 5% administrative.

Compensation: Salary range is competitive, reaching up to $325,000 annually. A recruitment/relocation incentive may be available for highly qualified candidates.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Proficiency in written and spoken English.
  • Medical degree (MD or equivalent) from an accredited institution.
  • Current, unrestricted medical or surgical license in a U.S. State, Territory, or Commonwealth.
