This position exists to transition a Registered Radiologic Technologist to an independent Technologist. The successful candidate will be accountable for preparing patients and learning all applicable procedures in accordance with physicians' orders and the procedure manual.
Key Responsibilities- Prepare patients for examinations under the direct supervision of a Technologist by confirming physicians' orders, verifying patients' identities, obtaining adequate medical histories, and ensuring the appropriateness of examinations.
- Maintain a safe environment for patients, personnel, and visitors by requiring and supporting the establishment, maintenance, and education of an effective safety management program.
- Perform a proper discharge of patients once exam is completed, answering telephones courteously and professionally, and screening and transferring telephone calls or taking messages as appropriate.
- Report, record, and file patient and procedural data to accurately document department operations and facilitate timely accurate billing for services.
- Participate in Performance Improvement activities utilizing the FOCUS PDCA (Plan, Do, Check, Act) approach.
- Remain proficient in the use of all Radiology Management systems as needed.
- Completion of an accredited program in Imaging required.
- VA State Radiologic Technologist License required.
- Minimum of one year previous experience in Imaging (i.e. X-Ray, MRI, CT, Nuclear Medicine or Ultrasound Technologist) preferred.
- ARRT (or RDMS or NMTCB) registered or registry eligible.
- AHA BLS Provider CPR required at hire.
- For CT, must pass ARRT or NMTCB CT registry within 12 months of start of program.
- For Mammography, must complete 40 hour online course for 3D mammography prior to moving into Mammography Cross-Training role, and must pass the ARRT (M) registry with 12 months of start of program.
